In 1998, the UK's deadliest terrorist attack occurred when a Pan Am flight to New York City exploded over the town of Lockerbie, just days before Christmas. After years of negotiations, the trial of the two accused - Abdul Bassett Al-Megrahi and Al-Amin Khalifa Fhimah - was held in 2000 under unique circumstances at Camp Zeist, in the Netherlands.
