Michiel Ebbing is a Dutch filmmaker. In 2006–2007, he studied Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in China’s Business System from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2011. Meanwhile, he continued learning Chinese through the Mandarin House Shanghai in 2010, and took the Level B2, Chinese Language and Literature course at the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China in 2011. In 2012, he worked ask Businesss Development Manager for the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, Chongqing. In 2013, he earned a Master of Science in Finance & Investments from Rotterdam School of Management. In 2015, he worked in the Financial Institutions Department of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) in Amsterdam. That same year, he began working on a documentary about Chinese football and founded the company Kicking Cultures B.V. in 2016. In 2021, he founded the company Alioth BV to support European suppliers on the B2B marketplace Alibaba.com.
