Asya Suleeva

Asya Suleeva (Kazakh: Ася Сулеева; born 1 March 1950; Georgievka) is a Soviet and Kazakh film director and screenwriter.

Graduated from the Department of Documentary Film and Television Directors of VGIK (1975); acting studio at Kazakhfilm (1975). She studied in the scenario workshop of Lev Varshavsky. In cinema since 1975. Asia began her career as a documentary filmmaker.

The director also works fruitfully in the genre of feature films. The feature film "My House on the Green Hills" is her first experience in this role. The script of this film was written by her in collaboration with the famous Russian cinematographer Sergei Bodrov. The film dedicated to children was recognized at many prestigious film festivals, had a successful distribution in America, it was bought by 36 countries of the world. The second picture created by director Suleeva - the film "Sorcerer's Dolls" also became a participant and prize-winner of international film festivals.
